The Opportunity of HomeopathyWhen I first discovered homeopathy there were a few things that really grabbed me and made me take note. I came from a background of taking medicine – for everything all the time, yet I was never healthy.
The things that I noted were different about homeopathy were:
•The practitioner took my whole self into account. She took the most thorough history I’d even given – even asking me biographical information, emotional health, symptoms of every part of my body and every aspect of my life.
•I only had to take a remedy for a day – I was used to 4 x a day for weeks of potent drugs with lots of side effects. This was a pellet under my tongue and no repeating.
•There were no “side –effects”. No nausea, allergic skin rashes, bowel changes, nothing.
•Subtly and over the course of a couple months, I realized that not only did my initial complaint clear up but so did many of the other things I had told the homeopath about and after a year I realized my seasonal hay fever was gone too (and I hadn’t even mentioned that to her).
•I could take a class with her that not only explained how homeopathy worked but also gave me tools to give remedies to my family for first aid and acute situations. There was never a hint that she was “above” me in any way – or knew better than me about me.
•Homeopathy made me feel empowered as a parent – the opposite of how I felt at the doctor’s.
•I could deal with so many of the things that came up in life – emotional, physical, acute and chronic with homeopathic help - it was so useful.
When, in 1993 I suffered from post-natal depression, I was surprised to find that within a week of starting on the homeopathic remedy, my depression had completely lifted and I was back to normal. This was my signal to hand in notice in my old life in charity public relations and go back to college. In 1999 I graduated and I haven’t looked back.
I am now embarking on the exciting project of launching Britain’s most successful homeopathic training college in New York and can only encourage those of you who have been touched as I have by homeopathy in my life- go and train – either in the UK, in New York at CHE-NY in 2010 or wherever you may be. It’s a great and life changing adventure.
